07/10/2015 - 2015 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National East Kevin is a tall, athletic C/RHP that will graduate in 2016 with a promising future on the diamond. Currently, he projects best behind the plate for the next level where he has a tremendous upside. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 7.16 60 time. At the plate is where he shows best through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating plus bat speed through a direct / level swing path. He has strength in his swing and works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. The baseball explodes off the bat when centered, creating back spin. Behind the plate, pop times showed a range of 1.97-2.15. Arm strength is outstanding as indicated by his top velocity of 87 mph at the arm strength station with throws displaying life, accuracy, and on line carry. He will control the running game with his feet and arm. Receiving / blocking skills show as outstanding tools that will play at the next level. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 83-85 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with arm side run. Off speed stuff shows as quality pitches at the next level. Control is outstanding as he throws strikes with all his pitches, locating to both sides of the plate. Kevin will get looks from the top collegiate coaches and pro scouts with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
