09/25/2016 - College PREP - Indianapolis, IN Kevin is strong, tall two-way prospect with good upside. As a first basemen, Kevin looks the part and makes all the routine plays. He moves well around the bag and is working to become more fluid with his actions. Kevin throws with a short, quick arm action from a high 3/4 slot. His throws have carry and are online. Offensively, Kevin has a square setup and keeps a centered balance. He uses his strength effectively with projectable power at the plate. As a LHP, Kevin has a balanced delivery throwing from a high 3/4 slot with a free, clean arm action. He stays square with the proper stride length and finishes over his front knee. Kevin's fastball has good life at 80-82 MPH. His out-pitch is his 12-6 curveball at 67-69 MPH. Kevin also has an effective change up thrown with the same arm speed as his FB. Kevin has potential to become an impactful player the next level.

06/25/2016 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 Kevin is a very hard worker and it shows through his constant grind on the baseball field. At the plate, Kevin's swing is outstanding from start to finish. A balanced setup, on time stride/load, direct/quick path to the ball, and a loose finish result in the hard hit balls (92 exit velocity!). He hits the ball where it's pitched and sprays it to the gaps. At first base, he moves fluidly with good footwork and uses his sure hands that get out in front when fielding and picking throws out of the dirt. On the mound, he throws his 79-81 mph fastball from a high 3/4 angle to create late movement. Not to be confused as just a flame thrower, he will throw his wipeout 2-8 slurve and hard/moving changeup to keep hitters constantly off balance. Kevin is a complete two way player and hard worker; he possesses the tools that will translate well into a high level of play.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
