03/13/2021 - Spring Pro Training Experience - MD (HS) Kier continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate, he improved his hitting / power potential through an open setup. Hands are quick (86 mph exit velocity) and work through level swing path. He stays inside the ball utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.20. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He shows a squared setup and presents a soft mitt out front. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls well out front.

11/22/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Gambrills, MD Kier is a lean C/OF who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is above average as indicated by his 60 time of 7.20. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Pop times showed in 2.30 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. He moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground, displaying range. At the plate, he continues to shine through a tall, squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. With 2 years to further develop, Kier has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
