06/01/2019 - 2019 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National West Kimble is a pure catch and throw backstop who also will make an impact with the bat. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. Quick lateral movements allow him to center/deaden pitches in the dirt off of a soft chest. Runners will not want to test his cannon for an arm (90 mph) with impressive pop times of 1.80. Offensively, he continues to shine with tremendous hitting abilities with pro level power potential. He has athletic/smooth actions with fluid rhythm to load. He gets good hand separation and delivers the barrel with leverage, resulting in a barrel explosion (92 mph exit velocity) with the ball screaming off of his barrel. Kimble has the makings of a special type player with the makings of a solid 2020 draft pick.

01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Kimble is a very exciting catching prospect who is fun to watch. An all-around talent with throws that are coming from a cannon of an arm and impressive pop times as low as 1.79. Footwork is a plus as he is so quick to replace and get rid of the ball with zip. He is agile and athletic, moving laterally with ease and deadening pitches in the dirt. At the plate, he steps into the box looking to do damage. Hands are quick generating a ton of bat speed as he whips the barrel to and through the zone, squaring the ball up consistently and driving it to deep parts of the park. He will be a run producer at the next level. This Texas A&M commit is an immediate impact guy at the next level.

11/03/2018 - 2018 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures Texas Kimble is one of the top catch-and-throw prospects in the country. When you see him on the field, his arm immediately stands out (94 mph raw arm strength). That arm strength combined with quick feet and a clean exchange led to times as low as 1.81 to 2B at the UA Baseball Factory Futures Texas event. Kimble's physical, durable frame (6'2"/193) serves him well behind the plate where he sits well and shows leadership skills. As a hitter he has strong, quick hands that deliver the barrel with consistency. He seems most comfortable handling balls on the inner half and making hard contact to left field. Overall, this is an exciting prospect to watch develop - an athletic player at a premium position.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
