Davis showed only as a LHP at the event and continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date, topping out at 74 mph. Fastball showed a range of 71-74 mph with tailing action. Off speed stuff have really improved showing as quality pitches that will get outs at the next level. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with late / sharp break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with tailing action. Delivery is sound and repeatable allowing his arm action to work well to the plate. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to throw more strikes.
07/26/2013 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City
Knox is a good player who is receptive to coaching and a good competitor. He is projectable on the mound, especially given his size. He displayed solid mechanics at this event, showing good tempo, working down in the zone, and commanding all of his pitches. During game play, he backs up bases and shows a solid pick off move. He also is not afraid to pitch inside and he does so effectively. Mechanically Knox needs to keep his lower half in sync with his arm and get his chest out over the lead leg. As an outfielder he has above average arm strength, and good quickness, hands, and footwork, while showing an athletic fielding position and awareness on the field. At the plate Knox displayed gap to gap power and good situational hitting but he needs to keep his body under control, balance centered, and develop a smoother load.
