01/13/2017 - Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Koa is a talented young C/SS prospect with a high baseball IQ. As a catcher, Koa works behind the ball when receiving, works the outside part of the ball, and has a quiet receiving stance. He shows a clean exchange and quick release on his throws down to second base. At the plate, Koa is a patient hitter who sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride to the ball. He comes through the zone with his lower half and takes a direct swing path which leads to consistent contact through the middle of the field. Koa will continue to improve with experience and hard work.

07/24/2016 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Koa continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities with a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Behind the plate, pop times have improved as well as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.20. Feet are active working in line through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools as he continues to develop and get more reps. He is a vocal leader on the field and shows a solid feel for the game. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Barrel accuracy is a plus and displays gap to gap pop. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be. Overall, Koa has a lot of potential with time and room to continue to progress his game.

05/08/2016 - Interactive Video Program - Lakewood (Denver), CO Koa is a R/R 2-way player as a C/SS who has a ton of talent. Behind the dish, he sits in well with athletic actions and a strong base. He tracks pitches into a soft mitt, sticks the ball and frames them well. Throws to 2B are accurate coming from a clean exchange as he gains ground toward his target - pop times of 2.34. At SS, Koa has active prep and takes good angles to work around the GB. He picks out the hops, funnels smoothly and gathers well. Offensively, this RHH shows a balanced setup with an aggressive approach. He takes a hack at pitches he likes, barrels the ball up and drives it with some pop hitting the ball on a line. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

1. Blocking
2. Arm strength (long toss)
Infield
1. Lateral quickness
2. Glove extension
3. Play through ball

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
