04/14/2019 - College PREP - Louisville, KY
Kobe continues to shine on the diamond. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind and plays through with his body. Range is a plus as moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. At the plate, he shows a closed / athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays on plane, working through a level swing path with power improving as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the bump, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work loose / clean to the plate. He works through a quick tempo and shows a 3 pitch mix. Fastball showed a range of 67-70 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Building more arm strength through a long toss program will aid in improving stock on the mound.
08/01/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18)
Kobe is a lean, athletic OF/RHP who will graduate in 2019. At the plate is where he shows best through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel, flashing gap-to-gap pop. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. In the OF, he displays fluid / athletic actions. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 72-75 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Control is well above average as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and is a great teammate. Kobe has potential with time and room to continue to progress his game.
