08/13/2017 - College PREP - Kapolei (Honolulu), HI Kobey is an athletic, strong SS who is a prospect on the diamond. Foot speed is outstanding as indicated by his 60 time of 6.90. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying tremendous hitting / power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (95 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has excellent strength in his swing with the baseball coming off the bat a little differently. Barrel accuracy is a plus, displaying gap-to-gap pop. At SS, defensive abilities are outstanding as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through well with his body. Hands are soft / sure and he presents well out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Arm strength is near a pro level (89 mph velocity) with throws displaying life, accuracy, and on line carry. Kobey has the makings of special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
