01/13/2012 - 2012 Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament Eaves continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and showed on the mound for the first time, showing as one of the top prospects at the event. Arm strength is at a pro level as indicated by his top velocity of 90 mph. His fastball shows a range of 85-90 mph with hard arm side run. His off speed pitches show as outstanding off speed pitches that will get outs at the next level. His breaking ball is a hammer that displays sharp downward tilt. He shows plus feel for his change-up with arm side run and sink. He attacks hitters, throwing strikes with all his pitches, and changes speeds well. At SS, his feet are quick / athletic as he attacks ground balls but needs to play through more to continue to improve defensive grades. At the plate, hitting grades are outstanding through a solid setup. His hands are quick, generating bat speed and he works to keep his hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Barrel accuracy is a plus with the ball jumping off his bat when centered. At the event, he was 3 for 7.
