06/19/2023 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 Kolby is a 2025 RHP/SS out of Hondo, TX. We had a chance to see him out there in June for our Omaha National World Series. At SS, he displays clean/smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls but needs to play through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Throws are accurate with carry (80 mph velocity) across the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.23 runner. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball showed a range 72-74 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable. We look forward to seeing what the future holds as he enters his junior year this fall.

08/04/2022 - Baseball Factory Summer World Series at the NY Mets Spring Training Complex Kolby is a SS/RHP prospect in the class of 2025 out of Hondo, TX. On the mound, he showed the ability to pitch with all 3 of his pitches. Worked his FB up to 75 mph. Showed good feel and command for his 11-5 shaped breaking ball. Worked mainly on the outer half to hitters. At the plate, he showed good pull side pop. Started in a tall and open stance before doing a good job of activating his hands and lower half during his load. Showed off impressive hand speed. In the field, he showed good arm strength for his age with his raw velo up to 73 mph. Did a good job of working downhill on groundballs and fielding out front. Showed quick and clean exchanges. Created momentum to throw and balls showed good carry across. Kolby is a well-rounded young prospect that we hope to see more of in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
