Official Scouting Report

  • SS/RHPPosition Projection

01/07/2022 - 2022 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (AZ) Kolby is a solid SS/RHP in the 2022 class who recently shined at the AZ Preseason event. This tall and lean (6’2/180) prospect, has the making of a two-way player for many college programs. In the field, he has solid footwork on his attack angles. He gets square to the baseball in a low athletic position. His exchanges are quick and clean and can throw from numerous arm slots. Has the arm strength (83 velo) to stay on the right side of the diamond. Driving his back foot to the target will assist in his shoulder alignment to the base. On the mound, he is a strike thrower. He locates the ball down in the zone and trusts his defense. He uses a 3-pitch mix. His FB topped at 79 with tailing action. His CB sat at 73 with 11/5 shape and medium break. His CH ranged from 60-61 with movement. At the plate, he uses his tall frame to drive the baseball with line drive power (86 exit velo). He has smooth timing and advanced barrel feel. Using his lower half will increase his ball flight for gap to gap power. Kolby is a talent player who will make a great addition to a college roster.

09/16/2021 - Pathway AZ Upperclass - 18U Kolby is a projectable SS in the 2022 class. Defensively, Kolby showed great range/footwork with a quick arm action and the ability to carry the ball to 1B easily. Offensively, he displays a tall stance with on time rhythm and the ability to get the bat on plane consistently. This allowed Kolby to hit the ball with power gap to gap and consistently hit line drives all over the field. On the mound, he showed a solid fastball at 86 mph. His breaking ball had a sharp 11-5 action but could get better control with it. He is a competitor with a gamer attitude who wanted to ball in his hands in the hardest moment. Kolby is a solid prospect who will catch the eye of collegiate coaches.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
