07/12/2013 - Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Team One South Kolton continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities, still showing as an OF/LHP. Currently, he projects best in the OF for the next level. He utilizes his outstanding foot speed in taking proper routes / angles and gets behind balls more, playing through with momentum to his target. At the plate is where he has improved the most, now showing outstanding hitting abilities and power potential. Hands are quick, generating plus bat speed to and through the ball at contact, creating extension. Barrel accuracy is exceptional with the baseball exploding off the bat when centered. At the event, he was 1 for 4 with a 2B off the well. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he topped out at 81 mph. Fastball showed a range of 77-81 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break and shows as a quality pitch when he stays on top. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as more arm strength is developed through a long toss program.

01/18/2013 - 2013 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Schenker showed a solid left handed stroke. He showed some rhythm to hit, stayed level and did a good job of using the whole field. He started from an open stance, and tended to land open with his stride. This did not allow a complete rotation of his core and lower half, which caused him to spin off at times. He has the makings of a solid line drive stroke, just needs to stay stronger and more square with his lower half. Defensively, he got behind the ball and played through it well. His feet were active, and his hands worked to allow him to field the ball cleanly. He tended to have some wasted motion from the play on the ball into the release, and his arm worked with some stiffness. On the mound, he offered some deception and was effective in his use of fastball and breaking ball. His fastball topped at 78 and had some tailing action. His breaking ball had solid action when he stayed on top, and he showed a changeup and split finger pitch. He reached a good balance point, and had good direction along with a sound landing and finish to his delivery. Overall, a capable two-way player with a little more upside as a position player.

08/06/2012 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Kolton is a lean, OF who will graduate in 2014. Defensively, Kolton has quick feet, he reads the ball off the bat well, and takes good routes. He takes good angles, he closes on the ball well, and he throws with a loose arm action to his target. Not drifting and added arm strength will help OF skills improve. At the plate, Kolton has an athletic set-up, he stays on the ball, and he his swing is level. He has good strike zone recognition and he uses his lower 1/2 well. Hitting can improve with more live hands and not closing himself off.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
