09/10/2017 - Interactive Video Program - La Verne (Los Angeles), CA Kona is a C/3B who will graduate in 2023. Defensively behind the plate, he shows a low setup with active footwork. He centers to block and comes up with a clean exchange to throw. At 3B, he works low and fields the GB with sure hands. He makes the tough backhand plays, gathers well and makes aggressive throws to his target. With the stick, Kona displays an athletic/square setup and gets back into a balanced load. He swings on a short/direct path through the zone and drives pitches on a line with extension. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
