Kris is a talented OF/RHP prospect who plays the game athletically with an above average skill set on both sides of the ball. In the outfield, Kris plays with active, quick footwork and agile actions giving him the ability to cover good ground. He takes the correct angles to stay behind the ball and fields the ball in a low, athletic position. Kris has a quick, clean exchange leading to a quick release throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. His throws are accurate with good strength at 89 MPH. Offensively, Kris has a tall stance with a centered balance. He has smooth rhythm with a good load and short stride as he uses his lower half throughout his swing. Kris shows fast bat speed with a short swing path producing hard contact. He has a line drive approach and drives the ball in the middle of the field. On the mound, Kris works fast with a repeatable, smooth delivery. He has a balanced, on-time motion throwing from an over the top slot with a clean arm action. He stays square to home plate with a controlled landing at the proper stride length. Kris finishes effectively with his chest over his front knee. He commands his fastball with good run and sink movement at 78-83 MPH. He also locates his deceptive changeup and has a developing curveball. Overall, Kris has a good approach to the game and high upside to take his game to the next level.
04/15/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Hattiesburg, MS
Kris continues to show as a prospect on the diamond and has improved his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a superior runner at 6.70. In the OF, defensive abilities are now outstanding as he displays smooth / athletic actions. He utilizes his feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles and utilizes two hands well through the fielding process. He is aggressive, works to get behind balls, and plays through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he reads balls well off the bat and covers a lot of ground. Arm strength is outstanding with throws displaying life, accuracy, and on line carry through his target. At the plate he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (85 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields and has strength in his swing, creating back spin with gap to gap pop. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 78-81 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup and shows a solid feel for pitch with sinking action. Control is a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.
01/22/2017 - College PREP - Jackson, MS
Kris is a lean, athletic OF/RHP and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is outstanding as indicated by his 60 time of 6.94. In the OF, he displays smooth / athletic actions. He utilizes his feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles. Feet are aggressive but will benefit by working to get behind balls to play through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he reads balls well off the bat and covers a lot of ground. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick (83 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive approach. He shows a feel for the barrel and works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 80-83 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late / sharp break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but shows a feel for pitch with sinking action. Off speed stuff show potential as being quality pitches. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Kris has the makings of a special type player with time and room to progress his game.
