Official Scouting Report

  • OF/CPosition Projection

06/23/2018 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Kris is a strong and athletic 2019 utility player. In the OF, Kris has a good first step to the ball and is aggressive when fielding ground balls. He works behind the ball and can play all three outfield positions well. Continuing to work on live reads and agilities will allow him to get better reads off the bat. At the plate, Kris starts in an athletic stance, loads his hands back into the drive position, and stays balanced through contact. He's aggressive on fastballs early in the count and drives the ball gap to gap. Kris is a hard worker with tremendous upside. Kris will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

05/06/2018 - College PREP - Houston, TX Kris is a solid, thick OF/C who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is superior as indicated by his 60 time of 6.81. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying well above average hitting abilities with solid power potential through an open, athletic setup. Hands are quick / strong (90 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. In the OF, he displays smooth / clean actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls but needs to get behind balls more to play through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he reads balls well off the bat and covers a lot of ground. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line to his target through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times showed a range of 2.09-2.25 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Hands are soft / sure and he tracks balls well through the receiving process. He uses his body well through the blocking process, centering balls out front. Kris has a lot of potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
