10/06/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Columbia, MD Kurtis continues to shine with his baseball abilities on the mound. On the bump, he works to a controlled balance point, has smooth separation and fires from a clean/loose arm action. He gets strong glove-side lead and stays directional toward the dish. Arm strength is well above average as indicated by his top velocity of 84 mph. FB ranges from 82-84 mph. Breaking ball shows 10/4 shape with gradual break. Slider is harder with tight spin and short break. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach.

09/22/2021 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic Kurtis continues to show as a top prospect at the Arizona Junior Fall Classic. At 3B, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. He moves well laterally (7.21 60 time) and covers a lot of ground. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick (88 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing and shows a feel for the barrel. On the mound, he shows a controlled, repeatable delivery allowing his quick arm action to work well to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 80-84 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Control is outstanding as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. He shows a great feel for pitching and maintains composure on the bump. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

05/16/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Frederick, MD Kurtis is a SS in the class of 2023. In the field, shows effective feet and the ability to cover ground. He does a good job fielding from an athletic position. Shows the ability to work behind and through the backhand. Has accurate throws and clean exchanges resulting in sure outs. Does a good job working across the bag on double plays. Arm velo was up to 87 MPH. At the plate, he hit from a tall stance. Did a good job getting into his load. Showed quick hands through the zone. Created consistent contact with help from his short hand path. Worked gap to gap in his BP round. Kurtis is a well rounded player that we hope to see again in the future.

01/08/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season Prospects Tournament (HS) Kurtis continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved, now showing well above average skills through an open setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. At SS, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate with carry (84 mph velocity) across the diamond.

09/04/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Frederick, MD Kurtis continues to shine on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, hitting / power potential have improved through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent hard contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. At SS, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. He moves well laterally with range continuing to improve as he continues to increase foot quickness. Throws are accurate with carry (81 mph velocity) but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program.

12/27/2019 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Kurtis continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 2B, defensive abilities have improved as he displays clean actions. Feet are active but needs to attack balls more and play through with his body. Glove action is soft and presents well out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

10/13/2019 - College PREP - Baltimore, MD Kurtis is a lean, athletic MIF who has a promising future on the diamond. He displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active and he displays proper footwork but needs to play through balls more with his body. Glove action is soft /sure and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves and he increases foot quickness. Throws are accurate, flashing carry but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing to the pull side. Power will increase as he uses his lower half more efficiently. With 3 years to further develop, Kurtis has potential with time and room to progress his game.

11/03/2018 - College Recruiting Day - Ellicott City, MD Kurtis is a SS prospect who will graduate in 2023. In the field, Kurtis shows active footwork and takes a good first step. He gets into a square position and fields the ball out in front with sure hands. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate and strong across the diamond. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a closed stance and gets into a small load. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed which leads to consistent contact. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
