10/13/2019 - College PREP - Baltimore, MD Kurtis is a lean, athletic MIF who has a promising future on the diamond. He displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active and he displays proper footwork but needs to play through balls more with his body. Glove action is soft /sure and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves and he increases foot quickness. Throws are accurate, flashing carry but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing to the pull side. Power will increase as he uses his lower half more efficiently. With 3 years to further develop, Kurtis has potential with time and room to progress his game.

11/03/2018 - College Recruiting Day - Ellicott City, MD Kurtis is a SS prospect who will graduate in 2023. In the field, Kurtis shows active footwork and takes a good first step. He gets into a square position and fields the ball out in front with sure hands. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate and strong across the diamond. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a closed stance and gets into a small load. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed which leads to consistent contact. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.

Fielding
1. Lateral range
2. Long toss
Hitting
1. Square stride
2. Smoother load
3. Lower half drive

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
