Official Scouting Report

06/21/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training at the College World Series (Ages 12-14) Kurtis is a coachable player who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Baseball Factory Select Training at the College World Series. In the field, Kurtis shows fluid footwork and is very agile moving to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He has a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws which allows them to remain accurate and carry through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a square stride to the ball. He is smooth getting into his load and comes through the zone with his lower half. He takes a level swing with fast bat speed which leads to consistent contact and line drives. On the mound, Kurtis has a quiet, balanced delivery and repeats well. He shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 73mph with good arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 54-55mph with 10-4 break. Overall, Kurtis is a talented prospect who has the time and potential to further develop his skills.

03/26/2017 - College PREP - Oklahoma City, OK Kurtis is a tall and lanky young RHP prospect. At the plate, Kurtis has a upright stance, short stride, and makes consistent contact. If he continues to create rhythm in his hands, loads his hands back into the drive position, lengthen his stride, and drives his lower half into the ball, he will increase his ability to make consistent hard contact. On the bump, Kurtis gets to a good balance point, creates downward tilt, and has easy arm action. If he continues to ride his backside to the plate, stay over the front side, and develop his secondary pitches, he will increase his overall skill set as a pitcher.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
