Official Scouting Report

  • 1B/OFPosition Projection

06/02/2019 - College PREP - Columbia, MD Kyle worked out at 1B and in the OF during his last workout with The Factory. He raised hitting numbers to 52 and 55 and exit velocity to 91 MPH. He is a strong hitter with good balance and fast bat speed. He swings in good rhythm, makes solid/consistent contact, and he uses his lower 1/2. At 1st base, Kyle has active feet, a good glove, and he fields in a square position. He gains ground and throws with momentum across the diamond. In the OF, Kyle tracks it well, makes plays, and throws with good direction to his cut off man. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for Kyle as he enters that senior year.

10/07/2018 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ This corner IF continues to shine on the diamond. At the plate is where he continues to show best through an open setup. Hands are quick and he has strength in his swing (84 exit velocity) with the baseball jumping off the bat when centered. Lower half works well through the swing and he shows a solid feel for the barrel. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and he is a quality receiver. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program.

08/01/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Kyle continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. At the plate is where he continues to show best through an open setup. Hands are quick (87 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields and shows a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. Defensively, this corner IF displays clean/smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate, flashing carry but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

02/10/2018 - Mid Atlantic Regional Accelerated Hitting Weekend (Ages 14-18) Kyle is a hard-working and talented prospect that made several adjustments during the hitting accelerated training weekend. At the plate, Kyle starts in an open stance and loads his hands back into the drive position. He has smooth pre-pitch movements and uses his lower half to attack the ball. He has a good approach and makes consistent hard contact. Continuing to keep his chest behind the front knee at contact will allow him to stay behind the ball and not drift. Attacking the inside part of the ball and getting extension through contact will allow him to create backspin on the ball. Kyle will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

12/09/2017 - Hitting Accelerated Training HS- Columbia, MD Kyle is an athletic hitter who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and is fluid getting into his load. He comes through well with his lower half which produces fast bat speed and good pop to his pull side. Kyle can improve as a hitter by taking a more square stride to the pitcher and by keeping his head on the ball. Overall, Kyle is a talented hitter who has the potential to further progress his skills at the plate.

08/02/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Kyle continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate, hitting/power potential has improved through an open/athletic setup. Hands are quick (85 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and has strength in his swing through a line drive approach. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean but needs to present more out front. Kyle will benefit by playing through with his body more. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Mental makeup is a plus as he makes adjustments and is a great team player.

07/10/2017 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Kyle continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At 1B, he displays smooth/fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a big receiver, displaying clean hands. He works to square ground balls up through an aggressive approach. Glove action is soft and presents well out front. At 3B, feet are active as he works around balls and plays through well with his body. Hands/feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with throws zipping across the diamond. At the plate he shows an athletic/open setup. Hands are quick (85 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop.

01/13/2017 - Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Kyle is an athletic 1B who will graduate in 2020. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are soft but will benefit by presenting earlier and more out front. He plays hard with high energy. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He works inside the ball utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will continue to improve as he works to utilize his lower half more efficiently. With 3 1/2 years to further develop, Kyle has abilities with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
