02/08/2020 - College PREP - Palmyra (Harrisburg), PA Kyle is a 2021 catcher from Sinking Spring, PA who attends Wilson High School. Behind the plate, Kyle has quick footwork, sits in athletically, and blocks and receives well. He has a clean transfer, and a long arm action with carry through to 2nd base. Continuing to quicken lateral movements, and shortening his arm action will help catching improve. Offensively, Kyle has an athletic set-up, good balance, and swings in good rhythm. He makes consistent contact gap to gap, and uses his lower body well. Added strength and bat speed will further improve offensive numbers. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for Kyle as he enters his junior baseball season.

07/29/2019 - College PREP - York, PA Kyle continues to improve his catching skills every time he shows up. He lowered his pop time to a 2.05 and raw velo went up to 81. Behind the plate Kyle shows active feet with an athletic and low setup and tracks the ball well receiving with soft hands. To 2B his exchanges are clean with a short arm action making accurate throws that have carry to them. Hitting, Kyle sets up square and loads back with a short stride. His movements are fluid keeping a centered balance and shows a fast bat that is direct to the ball. He shows the ability to make consistent and hard contact. Kyle shows the work ethic to become a player at the next level that shows in his on-field results.

02/09/2019 - College PREP - Palmyra (Harrisburg), PA Kyle once again continues to improve his catching skill set. He improved his pop time from 2.31 to 2.16 with accuracy on the 2B bag. Arm strength will continue to build as he progresses in his long toss program. Feet continue to be quick through a clean transfer. He displays good hip flexion with good angles on blocking the ball. Kyle is quick to block with good reflexes and sound technique. Kyle has pride in his catching game, receives easy and sticks the ball with strong hands. At the plate, Kyle continues to show a square, athletic setup with an easy load into a direct, on plane swing path. He displays good rhythm and is connected with hips and hands. He keeps the barrel in the hitting zone with good extension and a middle approach. With more leverage, Kyle will have more power to all fields consistently. Kyle continues to be very coachable with a well above average focus and love for the game.

06/23/2018 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Kyle continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. He improved his foot speed as he ran his best 60 time to date. Behind the plate, pop times showed in the 2.31 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Feet are quick in gaining ground through a clean transfer/exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. He shows a solid setup and sticks balls well in the zone and utilizes his body well through the blocking process but needs to work to get down sooner. At the plate, hands are quick and work inside the ball, utilizing all fields. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

02/10/2018 - College PREP - Palmyra (Harrisburg), PA Kyle is a young, catcher with a solid frame. Behind the plate, Kyle sits in low, he has good flexion, and keeps his eyes on the ball. He uses his body to block, has a clean exchange, and throws with accuracy from a loose arm action. A wider base, quicker release, and added arm strength can help catching get better. Offensively, Kyle has a square set-up, a proper load, and good balance. He attacks the ball aggressively, uses the middle of the field, and gets his lower body through. Hitting can get better if Kyle can quiet his hands, work on timing, and add physical strength.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
