05/01/2016 - College PREP - College Station, TX Kyle is a superb athlete with an outstanding future on the diamond. He continues to show improvements in his baseball tools. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a tremendous runner at 6.78. Behind the plate, pop times where in the 1.90 range. Feet are active as he gains ground through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Arm strength is outstanding with throws displaying life, accuracy, and on line carry. He will control the running game with his feet / arm. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well at the next level. At 3B, he utilizes his quick feet well in his lateral movement, displaying range. Hands / feet work well together through the fielding process as he makes all the plays. Glove action is soft /sure as he presents well out front. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity) and work to and through a level swing path, creating extension. He shows a feel for the barrel with late explosion and power showing best to the pull side.

01/15/2016 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Kyle displayed very strong skill behind the plate and in the box at the Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament with Baseball Factory. Offensively, he showed strong barrel accuracy with his direct path to contact and used his hands & hips together to work through the zone. He flashed strong pop, with an exit velo of 91 mph. Defensively, he worked low to receive with a soft glove and worked his feet efficiently to get in-line to throw. He had good body control and threw with accuracy and strength to 2B with pops in the 1.9-2.0 range. In all - Kyle is a junior backstop that has solid playing ability and should have a strong spring season.

05/10/2015 - National Tryout - College Station, TX This talented 2-way player continues to show well. Behind the dish, this athletic backstop moves well with lateral quickness. He is a defensive specialist and makes things happen. He has a quick/clean exchange and puts his throws right on the bag. At 2B, he moves well with quick/athletic actions. He has good range and works through the ball smoothly. At the plate, Kyle shows a balanced approach with rhythm to load. He has an aggressive approach and takes a hack. Contact is hard as he drives the middle of the field. Gonzales is a talented (2017 grad) who has a ton of upside with a bright future ahead of him.

02/01/2015 - National Tryout - Houston, TX Kyle showed strong numbers in his most recent outing with Baseball Factory. Defensively, he received with a firm wrist and was quick to exchange and throw, flashing pops as low as 1.84. Presenting a lower target and staying in the zone with all pitches will improve defensive skill. Offensively, he had a direct path and hit with a line-drive path. He rotated his lower half with strength and got extension out in front. Overall - Kyle continues to show growth and athleticism, 7.14 sixty, and should have a sound sophomore season.

12/27/2014 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Kyle is a young, hard working catcher. Behind the plate, Kyle has a quiet set up, flashes a low target, moves well laterally, and has a quick, clean exchange. His pop times will continue to get better as he learns to get on top of the baseball to prevent the ball from tailing on him. At the plate, Kyle shows a balanced set up, has a plan for every at bat, uses quick hands to the ball, and has very good barrel accuracy. His ability to hit with more power will increase as he learns to get more extension through the hitting zone. In all - Kyle is a young prospect with a lot of upside that we look forward to tracking the next 2.5 years.

07/21/2014 - College PREP - Austin, TX Kyle is a talented backstop who has an athletic frame. Behind the dish, he sits in well with flexion. He presents a low target and sticks pitches, framing well. He moves well laterally and centers pitches in the dirt off of his chest. A quick/clean release allows him to put throws on the bag in 2.13. With the bat, this RHH shows fluid rhythm getting back into a loaded position. He hits the ball where it's pitched and drives it to all parts of the field. Only a 2017 grad - Kyle has a bright future in the game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
