Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1B/LHPPosition Projection

08/15/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Waldorf, MD Kyle is a tall/projectable 2-way player as a 1B/LHP who can make things happen. At 1B, he has active prep and is aggressive to come and get the GB. Hands are presented out in front as he tracks the ball into a soft mitt, picking it cleanly. He has good footwork around the 1B bag and can adjust to throws up and down the line. With the bat, this lefty has an open stance with fluid rhythm to load. He takes an aggressive hack with + bat speed, squaring the ball up and spraying line-drives. On the mound, this lefty has an effective 3-pitch mix coming from a 3/4 arm slot. He keeps his eyes on the target, has smooth separation and repeats well. FB ranges from 74-75 with slight tailing action. Changeup is thrown with FB arm speed helping to create deception - 67-68 mph. Grimsley is a skilled 2-way prospect who has upside as he enters his junior year.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
