Official Scouting Report

  • OF/1BPosition Projection

04/03/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Trenton, NJ Kyle worked out in the OF and at 1B during his last workout in Trenton. In the OF, Kyle has agile range, athletic actions, and he works behind the ball well. He has soft hands, plays through ground balls properly, and throws with momentum and accuracy to his target. Continued work on range, using 2 hands, and added arm strength will help OF skills get better. At 1B, Kyle has active feet, a presentable glove, and he fields in a square position. He makes plays, keeps the ball in front of his body, and throws with a high 3/4 arm slot across the diamond. Added arm strength and improved footwork around the bag will help INF skills improve. At the plate, Kyle has an athletic stance, a good load, and he swings in good rhythm. He has fast bat speed, he can hit to all fields, and he uses his lower body. Hitting can continue to improve by staying level and adding physical strength.

12/27/2021 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Kyle showed well at the plate and in the OF during his time in Pirate City. Defensively, Kyle tracks the ball well and makes plays consistently. He gets good reads, works behind it well, and throws accurately to his cut off man. Arm strength increased to 74 MPH at the event. Offensively, Kyle has some strength in his swing as he hits from a solid base. He has a smooth load, good hip turn, and a solid eye for the zone.

09/12/2021 - All-In Membership - Trenton, NJ Kyle is a lean OF who will graduate in 2023. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more. In the OF, he displays fluid / athletic actions. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls but needs to play through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he increases foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Kyle has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
