On the mound, Kyle shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 77mph with tailing action. Breaking ball sits from 66-68mph. Changeup sits from 62-65mph with sinking action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Working more of a leg lift into his motion can help Kyle improve as a pitcher. In the field, Kyle attacks the ball aggressively and flashes good lateral range. He gets into a square position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a two-handed exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate with life through his target. Working on glove picks can help Kyle improve as a 1B. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a crouched stance and takes a square stride. He is fluid getting his hands activated and drives through well with his lower half. He gets good extension through the ball with decent bat speed, leading to consistent contact to his pull side. Kyle can improve as a hitter by simplifying his load. Overall, Kyle is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

07/15/2018 - Baseball Factory D.C. All Star Experience (Ages 14-18) Kyle is an athletic and talented 2020 2-way player that made several adjustments throughout the training weekend. At 1B, Kyle has a fluid prep step and has a quick first step to the ball. He works well off the bag, plays through his backhand, and has range to the 4-3 hole. Continuing to practice game like throws in his throwing program will increase his ability to throw from multiple arm angles and on the run. At the plate, Kyle starts in an athletic stance and loads his hands back into the drive position. He hits off a firm front side, creates whip in the barrel, and stays balanced through contact. Continue to attack the inside part of the ball and keeping a middle approach will allow him to drive the ball to all fields. On the bump, Kyle separates on time, has good tempo in his delivery, and attacks the strike zone with both pitches. Working on balance and riding the back leg to the plate will help control his direction toward the plate. Kyle will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
