Official Scouting Report

  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

10/25/2017 - Under Armour SoCal Classic, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Kyle continues to show the makings of a special type player as he continues to improve his baseball tools. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a well above average runner at 7.15. At the plate, he improved his hitting / power potential through a squared, athletic setup. He is aggressive and shows a feel for the barrel with baseball exploding off the bat (89 mph exit velocity) when centered. At the event, he was 3 for 9 with a HR. At 3B, defensive abilities are now outstanding as he displays smooth / clean actions. He utilizes his athletic feet well in his lateral movements, displaying range. Hands / feet work well together through the fielding process. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds the double play. On the bump, he shows a sound / repeatable delivery, working in line and on time allowing his arm to work loose / free to the plate. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 82 mph. Fastball showed a range of 80-82 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for pitch. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best he can be. With 2 years to further develop, Kyle will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities, possibly as a two-way guy.

08/20/2017 - College PREP - Dickinson, ND Kyle is a talented RHP/3B prospect who has a versatile skill set and graduates in 2019. On the mound, Kyle has a balanced, on-time delivery staying compact through his motion. He throws from a 3/4 arm slot with a loose arm action and extends through his release. Kyle stays square to home plate with a controlled landing. He does a nice job rotating with his core finishing to his target. He commands his fastball with run movement and medium breaking curveball. Kyle also features a developing changeup and slider. At the hot corner, Kyle plays with effective pre-pitch actions and quick footwork showing agile actions. He presents his glove and fields the ball in an athletic position. He has a quick exchange leading into a short arm action throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. Kyle has a quick release showing consistently strong, online throws across the diamond. Offensively, Kyle has a tall setup with his weight in the front of his stance. He maintains a still head and partially uses his lower half. Kyle shows good hip action and is developing bat speed. He has the ability to spray the ball to all fields. Overall, Kyle has the right approach with a well-rounded skill set giving him a bright future on the diamond.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
