Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/1BPosition Projection

01/18/2013 - 2013 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Kyle continues to prove that he is a quality young 2 way player with potential in all areas. On the mound, Kyle continues to impress with his frame, mound presence and ability to control body language. He had a tough outing but handled it well and continued to compete, pitching to contact and changing speeds. As a 1B, he showed a lot of athletic ability around the bag, good short hop ability and solid hands/feet on double play feeds. Offensively, Kyle looks comfortable with a slow, controlled load, a strong top hand and a quiet approach with rhythm in his pre-pitch set up. He is able to spray to all fields, gets his lower half through and continues to generate fast bat speed through the zone. Overall, Kyle has a lot of potential to play this game at a very high level.

10/24/2012 - Arizona Freshman/Sophmore Fall Classic Kyle is an impressive young RHP/3B with a lot of upside potential. On the mound he flashes a quality fastball with good downhill plane to it. He has a free, loose arm and gets good extension. His athleticism is clear throughout his his delivery. His out pitch is a breaking ball with good late snap. He is mature and composed on the mound, and once he learns to repeat his delivery better he will improve the consistency of his offerings. At the plate Kyle stands in well. He has a flat bat path and generates quality bat speed. His strong frame will continue to mature and will lead to more strength and increased power. At 3B he shows dependable hands and a strong arm with solid carry across the diamond. Kyle is a team guy with enough versatility to play either corner infield spot as well as LF. His highest ceiling appears to be on the mound, but he should be recruited as a legitimate 2-way option.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
