Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • SS/RHPPosition Projection

12/27/2015 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 Kyler is a very coachable, hardworking player who has a promising future on the diamond. At SS, he is a smooth / fluid fielder with hands / feet working well together as he plays through the ball toward his target. Presenting his glove more out in front will help to avoid getting the ‘in between' hop. Working more on the balls of his feet will help to increase lateral range in the INF. Offensively, he has rhythm to load and waits for his pitch. Swing is level as he engages his lower 1/2 well and creates extension through contact. He barrels the ball up and hits line-drives, with some pop to his pull-side (going 4 for 8 at the event). On the mound, fastball showed in the low 60 range with cutting action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He works the zone and competes. Control is outstanding as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Kyler has tools with still a lot of time to develop.

01/16/2015 - Baseball Factory Spring Training at the Yankees Training Complex Kyler is a 2021 grad projecting as a RHP/SS. On the mound, Kyler gathers himself over the rubber, gets good separation and showed a fluid, H3/4 arm action. He is a competitor on the mound with a 2-pitch mix. Defensively, Kyler showed a good prep step with athletic actions as he fielded the routine plays. He is an aggressive fielder that makes accurate throws to his targets. At the plate, this righty opens himself to the pitcher with smooth, fluid actions. He works up the middle of the field with a line drive approach. Kyler is a player that will see next level success by continuing to develop his skills, strength and explosive actions.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
