Official Scouting Report

  • OF/RHPPosition Projection

06/24/2017 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Kyler continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.01 runner. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls but needs to play through more with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he covers a lot of ground with his foot quickness. At the plate, he displays a tall setup. Hands are quick (87 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 69-71 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with tailing action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as more arm strength is gained through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is extremely coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

12/20/2016 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 Kyler is a tall, athletic built OF/RHP prospect who plays the game hard. Offensively, Kyler has an open stance and keeps his weight back. He stays square with his stride and his lower half is anchored. He is a line drive type hitter that sprays the ball to all fields. Kyler battles at the plate and is a tough out. In the outfield, Kyler has solid pre-pitch actions and works hard to get behind the baseball. He has a clean exchange leading into a loose arm action throwing from an over the top slot. He effectively plays through the baseball. On the mound, Kyler has a balanced delivery throwing from a high 3/4 slot with high effort arm action. He keeps his eyes on his target throughout his motion. Kyler competes on both sides of the plate. His features a sinking fastball, deceptive change-up, and 11-5 breaking curveball. Overall, Kyler has a solid set of skills and potential to get even better with maturity.

11/06/2016 - College PREP - Tampa, FL Kyler is a tall/lean OF and RHP. Offensively, he attacked each pitch with an aggressive swing, showing good pop to his pull side. Balance was good through his swing, as was his timing and extension through contact. In the outfield, he showed good initial reads off the bat, as he attacked balls aggressively and got to them quickly, displaying good foot speed. Long tossing to improve arm strength will round out his game in the OF. On the mound, he worked downhill well, using his hips and legs to drive off the mound and create torque. He featured 3 pitches including a mid to high 70's fastball with tailing life, a 10-4 curveball that sat in the upper 50's to low 60's and a changeup that had some depth to it. Kyler has a very good baseball frame, and with still room to grow as a player, will be exciting to track over his final few high school seasons.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
