Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/1BPosition Projection

Exclusive College Recruiting Program a physical 2023 two-way prospect who has tools on both sides of the game. As a RHP Lachlan has a strong frame with durability allowing him to maintain body control and repeat his delivery. His FB works in the 84-87 MPH range with life and ability to attack the strike zone with it. With a pair of off-speed offerings in a CB with depth and low 70’s velocity that pairs well with this 4-seam FB and shows swing and miss potential. His CHG is still a work in progress, but flashes average. His frame and durability shows potential for a starters profile, but the potential for increased velocity due to size and strength could make a high leverage reliever. He is a 1b who is a strong fielder with athleticism for his size and shows power potential at the plate. The swing is strength based and there is swing and miss, but the impact plays with power to the big part of the field and will continue to increase as he matures and continues to develop. There is a true two-way potential for Lachlan, but could eventually slide into a pitcher only role if desired based on his projection as a RHP. Academically, he is a standout student carrying a 3.9 GPA at Key School in Maryland one of the most rigorous schools. Fantastic makeup with a great work ethic on the field and in the classroom.

08/08/2021 - All-In Membership - Bowie, MD Lachlan is an athletic 1B/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. At 1B, defensive abilities are solid as he shows smooth / fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean and presents well out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases foot quickness. At the plate he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable as he shows good tempo through a strong balance point, allowing his arm action to work quick and free to the plate. Fastball shows a range of 78-83 mph with cutting action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with downward break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with cutting action. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. With 2 years to further develop, Lachlan has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
