08/11/2020 - National Evaluation and Tryout - Trenton, NJ Lance continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date at 7.38. In the OF, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he works to get behind balls and plays with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he reads well off the bat and covers a lot of ground. At 2B, defensive abilities are solid as he displays fluid, smooth actions. He attacks balls with his feet and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

11/16/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City (Ages 12-14) Lance is a lean and athletic 2B/OF prospect. Lance was very respectful to the coaching staff and his teammates. He worked hard and made several adjustments throughout his weekend at Pirate City. At 2B, Lance has an active prep step, and works from the ground up. He funnels the ball and makes a clean exchange to throw. At the plate, Lance has an athletic stance, and gets his front side down on time. He loads his hands back into a strong launch position, and shows pull side pop. Continuing to use his lower half and attacking the inside part of the ball will allow him to drive the ball with power to all fields. Continuing a strength and long toss program will elevate Lances game. He will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

09/23/2017 - FDI Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend (12-14) Lance is a coachable player who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square, athletic stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth getting back into his load and finishes with a firm front side in his lower half. He takes a level swing with fast bat speed which leads to consistent contact and line drives to the gaps. Lance can improve as a hitter by keeping his head down throughout his swing. With six more years to develop, Lance has the time and potential to further progress his skills at the plate.

07/10/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Trenton, NJ Lance is a 2B/OF who will graduate in 2021. Defensively at 2B, he hustles hard as he tries to get into a square fielding position. He fields the ball, sets his feet and makes accurate throws to his target. In the OF, he takes active routes as he tracks down fly balls. He fields the ball with soft hands and comes up with a clean exchange to throw. With the bat, Lance gets back into a smooth load and uses a middle of the field approach. He drives his lower 1/2 through and sprays pitches to all parts of the field. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Infield
1. Quicker footwork
2. Develop soft hands
3. Quicker transfer to throw
Outfield
1. Work behind the fly ball
2. Arm strength (long toss)
3. Play through more
Offense
1. Improve bat speed
2. Level out swing path
3. Create more consistent contact

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
