Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1B/RHPPosition Projection

07/16/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Landen continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a bright future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate is where he shows best through an open setup. He has strong/centered balance with fluid rhythm to load. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and makes consistent hard contact with power showing best to the pull side. Power will continue to improve as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At 1B, feet are active as he shows proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, he has a good overall delivery, a good arm action, and he rotates his hips through to his target. Fastball shows a range of 69-70 mph with cutting action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

12/20/2018 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Landen is a tall and lanky 2023 2-way prospect. At 1B, Landen starts in an athletic position, presents a low/early glove, and fields the ball well to his glove side. He needs to continue to be aggressive to the ball and work from the ground up. At the plate, Landen has a good approach and showed gap to gap power to all fields. He loads his hands back into the drive position and creates backside drive with his lower half. Continuing to attack the inside part of the ball and keeping his head down at contact will allow him to be on time more consistently. On the bump, Landen has good mound presence and consistently throws strikes. He gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and has a clean arm action. Landen is a hard worker and will continue to improve with experience.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
