07/09/2018 - California Select Training & Competition - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Landen continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. At SS, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up, displaying sure hands as he makes the plays. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds of the double play. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a tall setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. At the event, he was 5 for 10 with a 2B. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 72 mph. Fastball shows a range of 70- mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late / sharp break and shows as an outstanding pitch. Control is outstanding as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

03/04/2018 - College PREP - Indianapolis, IN Landen is an interesting 2021 2-way prospect. At SS, Landen presents a low/early glove and creates angles to the ball. He has a clean exchange and makes accurate throws across the diamond. At the plate, Landen starts in an athletic stance and loads his hands back into the drive position. He has loose hands and attacks the ball with his lower half. On the bump, Landen separates on time, keeps his eyes on his target, and shows late run on his arm side fastball. Landen will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
