10/18/2015 - College PREP - Lexington, KY Landon is a tall, athletic 1B/RHP that will graduate in 2016 with a promising future on the diamond. Currently, he projects best at 1B for the next level. Foot speed is slightly above average as indicated by his 7.44 60 time. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off the bat when centered, as he works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields and displaying gap to gap pop. At 1B, defensive grade is well above average, showing smooth / fluid actions. He displays solid footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are soft / sure and consistently showed the ability to pick balls out of the dirt, saving throws. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body, presenting glove well out front. He utilizes quick feet well in his lateral movements, showing solid range. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 78-81 mph with late life. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but is too close to fastball velocity. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches, locating to both sides of the plate. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Landon has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he continues to improve, potentially as a two-way player.
