04/09/2017 - College PREP - Lake Charles, LA Landon is an athletic, young 2018 SS prospect that displayed his speed with a 6.93 60 yard dash time. As a SS, Landon has aggressive lateral movements to the ball, he plays through the back hand well, has the ability to get the slow roller, and makes clean throws/flips on DP feeds. If he continues to work on presenting a low/early glove, exchange the ball further out in front of his body, funnel the ball to his arm slot, and get his feet in line to first, he will improve his overall ability in the INF. At the plate, Landon has a good approach; he tracks the ball deep, creates rhythm in his hands, and takes aggressive swings on strikes. If he continues to get his hands into the drive position, and drive his back knee down into the ball, he will create extension in the swing and hit the ball with authority from gap to gap.

Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground in the MIF. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, hands are quick and work through a level swing path, creating extension. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Barrel accuracy is a plus with power improving as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently through the swing.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
