Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1B/RHPPosition Projection

03/05/2017 - College PREP - Chattanooga, TN Landon is a tall, lanky (6'4",180lbs) 1B/RHP prospect who shows impressive ability all over the field. He shows natural hitting instincts at the dish with feel for the barrel and how to generate power and carry. He shows fluid actions and balance through his swing with a strong lower half to generate power. He explodes through the zone with fast bat speed on a level path to make consistent, hard contact with lots of power to the left of center. At first, he shows good footwork around the bag to shorten throw distance and receive throws cleanly with the ability to pick the ball in the dirt. He moves well laterally and square up the ball to field with soft, presented hands to make clean plays. On the mound, he shows a loose, quick arm to get good velocity and action on his pitches. He works up to 79mph on his fastball with good run, his curveball has 11-5 shape and he has good arm speed on his changeup to create deception. Extending through his release will increase velocity and give his pitches even more action. Landon is a very exciting, young prospect with a bright future in the game.

08/16/2015 - Interactive Video Program - Lebanon (Nashville), TN Landon is a talented 2-way player as a 1B/OF. With the bat, this RHH shows a balanced/square setup with a solid base. Swing path is direct/level to and through the zone as he engages his lower 1/2 well. At 1B, he shows active footwork and is aggressive to come and get the GB. He is sure handed and can pick it well. In the OF, Landon takes solid routes hustling into position behind the fly-ball. He secures the ball with 2-hands, gathers well and makes accurate throws into his target. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Offense
1. Load
2. Contact points
Infield
1. Footwork around 1B bag
2. Glove presentation out in front
Outfield
1. Arm strength (long toss)
2. Play through ball
3. Footwork / agility

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
