09/20/2014 - 2014 Under Armour Showcase: Futures East Silver has a projectable frame with length and width at 6-foot-2 and 190 pounds. He's improved his running and throwing ability since we saw him last September - posted 6.89 this time, down over two tenths from 7.13, and he now drives his throws downhill and carries them with life to the target from the outfield. His actions are quicker and he moves easier in the grass, and still can play 1B if needed giving him some versatility. At the plate, his right handed stroke is loose and he can accelerate the barrel thru the zone very well. He served hard line drives to the opposite field, and showed the ability to get the ball up in the air to the pull side. The ball is coming off his bat much better, and with work to stay flatter as he extends thru (both feet connected to the ground) he stands to drive the ball with even more consistency. Overall, a talented and projectable young player with a high ceiling.

09/21/2013 - 2013 Under Armour Futures Series East - Jupiter, FL Silver stands at 6-foot-2 and 190 with an athletic build and length on his frame. He posted 7.13 in the 60 yard dash on a slightly soft and slow track, and got down the line in 4.51 from the right side of the plate. At the plate, he showed quick hands and got good extension through contact. He hit from an athletic setup, and was simple in his approach to trigger his swing with his stride and load. He generated excellent bat speed, and worked the barrel through the hitting zone on a level path. He rotated well through contact, and consistently got the barrel there - allowing him to make hard contact back up the middle of the field. He worked out in the OF, and played both OF and 1B during the game. In both spots, he showed quickness in his feet along with good body control. His hands were solid in the infield, and his actions were clean. He is capable in both spots, and appears well suited to a corner spot. Only a 2016 graduate, he has a projectable body that should get bigger and stronger as he matures physically.

06/07/2013 - 2013 Under Armour Southeast Championships 18U Participant Athletic frame with length. Quick hands to hit, good bat path. Hasn't yet fully tapped into his potential, yet still generates easy power to pull side, ball jumps from good part of bat.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
