Official Scouting Report

  • OF/RHPPosition Projection

01/13/2017 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Landon is a talented OF/RHP prospect who has a wiry build and graduates in 2018. In the field, Landon plays with effective footwork and gets a good jump on the baseball to cover good ground. He gets around the baseball and presents his glove as he fields it squarely. Landon has a clean exchange leading into a loose arm action throwing from a low 3/4 slot. His throws have consistent accuracy with good strength behind them. As a right-handed hitter, Landon has a square setup with a centered balance. He has a smooth load and takes a square stride. Landon has an on-plane swing path and shows good bat speed. He is a line drive hitter who can spray the ball to all fields. On the mound, Landon has an on-time delivery throwing from a 3/4 slot. He extends through his release and rotates towards his target as he finishes with his chest over his front knee. Landon commands the ball down in the zone. His fastball has late, sinking movement at 83-86 MPH. He also features a slider and deceptive changeup. Overall, Landon has good upside and an above average skill set on both sides of the ball.

12/27/2016 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Landon is an athletic OF/RHP who worked hard on his skills during his time at Pirate City. In the field, Landon covers ground well and has a quick release to his throws, keeping them consistent to his target with good carry. Landon can improve defensively by presenting his hands more out front to field the ball. At the plate, Landon sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride to the ball. He gets into his load well and makes consistent contact to all fields. Landon can improve as a hitter by taking a more direct swing path to the ball. On the mound, Landon shows a two pitch mix with his fastball ranging from 80-86mph with good cutting action. Breaking ball sits from 74-77mph. Landon can improve as a pitcher by getting more lower half drive toward the plate. Overall, Landon is a talented prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

09/18/2016 - College PREP - Hattiesburg, MS Landon is a long, lean OF/RHP prospect. He has blazing speed to steal bases and run down balls in the gaps that most players can't get to. On the bump, he displays three pitches that he can throw in any count, that he trusts can get outs. His fastball sits in the low 80's with sink, his slider has 10-4 shape in the mid 70's and a deceptive changeup with sink. In the outfield, this prospect takes good angles and routes to the ball while playing through and gaining momentum to his target. He is athletic to field and has a clean exchange to show off his live, accurate arm. At the dish, he leads with his lower half and gets to his front side to swing. His swing path is level and he gets good extension through contact to show pop to the pull side. Driving from his back foot will lead to more power and a quick bat through the zone. Landon is an exciting prospect we look forward to watching progress.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
