11/01/2014 - 2014 Under Armour Showcase: Futures Texas Lane is an intriguing athlete with a lean, strong frame and excellent speed as evidenced by his 6.70 time in the 60. His combination of speed and instincts allow him to profile as a true center fielder at the next level. He is aggressive to the ball and takes could routes. At the plate the ball comes off Lane's bat well as he shows the ability to drive balls to the ball side at times. Much of his bat speed is shoulder-generated, but he has good plate discipline and sees the ball well in game action. He also runs the bases in a smart and aggressive fashion. Lane has a solid all-around game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
