07/30/2015 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training & Tournament at Historic Dodgertown Givens continues to show a lot of improvements in his baseball abilities with the makings of a special type player. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a well above average runner at 7.03. Defensive abilities have improved, now showing as an outstanding tool as he displays smooth / athletic actions. He utilizes his quick / aggressive feet well in his lateral movements as he covers a lot of ground, displaying range. Hands / feet work well through the fielding process and he gets rid of the baseball quickly with life and carry on his throws. He shows big play potential in the MIF. At the plate, hands are quick and works through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing with baseball jumping off the bat when centered, mainly to the pull side. At the event, he was 3 for 6. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and shows good leadership traits. He is an athlete that had several big hits and plays at the tournament.

03/22/2015 - College PREP - Greensboro, NC Givens is an athletic SS who has a tall/projectable frame (6'1"/165). With the bat, this RH swinger shows a balanced approach with rhythm is his hands. He takes an aggressive hack and hits line-drives consistently. Letting the ball travel more and shortening his stride will help him to hit at a stronger position which will increase pop off of his barrel. He has speed (7.16 60 yard dash) as he will put pressure on the defense once on base. At SS, Langdon moves well around the GB and into a square fielding position. He gathers well, has a clean exchange and makes accurate throws to 1B. Presenting his glove and fielding the ball more out in front will help to avoid getting the in-between hop. Givens has a ton of upside and will find success on the diamond.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
