07/31/2009 - Pirate City World Series - Session 1 Larry is a young OF with a small frame that shows projection as he continues to physically mature and fill out. Foot speed is average and he will need to get on a speed / agility program to improve foot quickness for the next level. Feet are active and aggressive in taking proper routes and angles in tracking down balls in the OF. Range is a plus as he covers ground reading balls well off the bat. He is a solid defender displaying near above average defensive abilities. Arm strength is solid average and he will benefit by getting on a strict long toss program to aid in further developing more arm strength with carry. At the plate, hitting abilities are slightly above average with average power. He shows a solid recognition of the strike zone and works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Swing path is smooth and easy, flashing bat speed. With 2 years to further develop, Barraza has abilities with a lot of room to improve.
