Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/SSPosition Projection

07/05/2008 - Team One South 2008 - Scouting Report Larry has really improved all of his baseball tools since the last time that we saw him. He continues to show as a two way player on the mound and at SS and projects well at both. His arm strength is now near pro ability as he showed carry and life across the diamond and touched 88 mph on the mound. Foot speed is above average and he utilizes his quick athletic feet in coming to get the baseball with his feet. He moves well laterally, showing range. Hands are soft, sure, and clean in making all the plays. At the plate he shows as a switch hitter and has well above power from both sides of the plate. He has strength in his swing from both sides. On the mound, Rodriquez has an upside. Arm strength is there with his fastball showing arm side run. Breaking ball is above average showing a 12/6 shape with tight spin and late sharp bite. Change up is solid average and needs more development. He throws a knuckle ball that does dance. Larry will catch the eyes of the college coaches and could be a two guy at that level. He will get some looks from the pro guys as well.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
