Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Lee is a 3B/RHP who is a prospect on the diamond. At the plate - he has strong/centered balance with fluid rhythm to load. He takes an absolute hack - crushing the ball to the deep parts of the park (exit velocity = 94 mph). At 3B, he has plus lateral range, working from the ground-up with smooth actions. Transfer is quick as he fires strong throws zipping (85 mph velocity) across the diamond. He continues to show as an upside on the bump. This righty has a 2 pitch arsenal in which to keep hitters guessing. FB jumps out of his hand. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with tailing action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

07/27/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Lee is a strong, two-way player who projects well with exciting tools both as a pitcher and a position player. His arm is the standout tool and he shows it off on long throws across the diamond and in his mid 80's fastball on the mound. He can pick it at the hot corner with quick twitch, athletic actions and the ability to move well laterally. His hands and feet work in sync to field the ball cleanly and get rid of it quickly to make strong, accurate throws and to start the DP. His hand eye coordination and pitch tracking ability at the plate are apparent as he covers the whole zone and can deliver the barrel to the ball consistently. His lower half is strong to generate bat speed and impressive pop to the pull side to show extra base ability. On the hill, this tall right hander features a FB/CB mix, working aggressively in the zone with his fastball. His arm action is quick and clean to generate whip and action on his pitches, inducing weak contact. Working on being directional to the plate will free up his arm path to increase velocity. Lee is a player we expect to make big strides and have lots of success during his senior season.

04/29/2018 - College PREP - Katy (Houston), TX Lee is a solid, speedy 3B/RHP graduating in 2019. In the field, Lee shows efficient feet as he covers ground to make plays. He presents his hands early and makes clean exchanges into a long, loose arm action (high 3/4 arm slot). Lee makes consistently accurate throws to his targets with his quick release, using his body's momentum to throw the ball with carry on a line. Lee could develop more velocity by using his legs more in his throw. At the plate, Lee shows a spray type approach with pop to the pull side. He shows a square set up with a square stride and hands that go back in his load. He keeps his balance center and leads with his lower half. Lee shows fast bat speed with a direct swing path. Lee could see more consistently hard contact by developing a rhythm and utilizing his lower half more. On the mound, Lee throws two pitches (FB and CB) from a 3/4 arm slot. He shows good mechanics and a consistent tempo throwing his fastball for strikes. Lee shows good center balance gathering over the rubber and separating on time into a clean arm action, extending through the zone upon release. He controls his landing with proper stride length and rotates to his target when finishing. Lee could see more accuracy on his pitches by staying square to his target. Lee shows good tools and, with more development, could play at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
