Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

08/02/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Lee is an athletic 3B/RHP who plays the game the right way. He is a very coachable player who asks questions and makes adjustments quickly. At 3B, he shows active prep footwork and is aggressive to come and get the GB. He works around (from right to left) the GB, funnels smoothly and has a quick release to throw. At the plate, this RHH shows a balanced setup with fluid rhythm to load. Hands are quick through a level path as he connects and creates good extension through contact. He engages his lower 1/2 well which help to increase pop off of the barrel. He battles in every AB and proved to be a tough out. On the mound, Lee pounds the zone and challenges hitters to swing the bat. This RHP works to a tall/controlled balance point, has smooth separation, and drives downhill off of the rubber. FB shows arm-side run while still sitting in the upper 70's. Breaking ball shows to be his bets off-speed pitch with 11/5 shape, tight spin and sharp/late break. Changeup is thrown with FB arm speed helping to create deception while complimenting his FB well. Lee is a very talented player who has upside and will make an impact as he enters his junior year.

05/07/2017 - College PREP - Bowie, MD Lee is an athletic RHP/SS who has a promising future on the diamond. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 74-76 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break and tight spin. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with slight fade but throws too hard to fastball velocities. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. At 3B, defensive abilities are well above average as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he works to square balls up and plays through with his body. Hands are soft / sure and present well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. With 2 years to further develop, Lee has a ton of potential with time and room to progress his game, possibly as a two-way guy.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
