01/11/2008 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America - 2008 Levi has a strong, athletic body and is aggressive on the base paths because of his good instincts. At 2B, showed quick actions laterally and has quick release on DP turn. At times, he is too aggressive. Would like to see better body control and break down to field ball. At the plate, has a short quick path to hitting zone. This allowed for barrel accuracy with decent bat speed. Would like to see him relax and trust his instincts at plate like when he's running bases. Looks robotic at times.

12/27/2007 - Christmas Camp and Tournament - 2007 Fey is a well rounded player with solid average to above average ability across the board. He ran well once again, this time posting at time of 7.07 in the 60-yard dash. His actions are quick defensively, though he can continue to work to make his actions more precise and fluid. At the plate, he showed good bat speed and overall life in his stroke. Much like with the glove, as he gets more in sequence with his overall stroke he should get more from his ability. Also pitched, topped out at 81 mph and showed a sharp 11 to 5 shape breaking pitch along with good arm speed and some control of his pitches. Showed good instincts and a "gamer" type approach, has some feel for the game and ability to use his tools.

11/11/2007 - College PREP - Austin, TX Levi takes a good low approach in the outfield and gets rid of the ball quickly. His body control is solid and he stays behind the ball and comes through it well. His glovework is a bit stiff but he makes the plays. He tends to get uphill on the throw which hurts the plane of his throw. With the bat, Levi shows a feel to all fields and handles the pitch away with consistency. He is a bit stiff through contact, and would like to see him get more out of his lower half as well.

08/25/2007 - ACR-E-Maryland 9 Levi brought lots of energy and knowledge to the field. At 2B, showed good presentation and footwork while fielding. Would like to see him field ball further out in front and field through the ball. During DP turn, have hands together when catching so you get a quicker release. Long toss is quickest way to improve arm strength. At the plate, has line drive approach with good bat speed. Used entire field but will improve with better use of lower half. Also level the shoulder so there is no uphill in the swing.

07/18/2007 - College PREP - Irving, TX Levi improved arm strength and still showed a solid approach at the plate and in the field at OF. He can utilize his lower a little better at the plate. He's a solid player with above average fielding ability. At 2B, has soft hands and fluid actions. Takes an aggressive first step and plays through the ball nicely. At the plate, shows quick hands and a direct barrel. Showed good rhythm at the plat

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
