10/15/2016 - 2016 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures South After quarterbacking his team to a victory on the football field the night before, Leyton switched gears to baseball for this BF Under Armour Futures event. A tribute to his ability and athleticism, he didn't miss a beat on the diamond, showing well both in the workout and during the game. Leyton took a solid BP showing bat speed and a line drive stroke that sprayed barreled balls to all fields. He carried over against live pitching and hit the ball hard in 2 of his 3 at bats. Behind the plate Leyton has a durable build that can take the pounding of the catching position and combined a quick exchange and arm strength to get the ball to 2B as low as 1.90. Leyton continues to improve and is an intriguing catching prospect to continue to follow.

10/17/2015 - 2015 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures South Pinckney stands at 6-foot-1 and 205 pounds with length and width to his frame that can fill out as he matures. He featured a loose, easy right-handed stroke with the ability to drive the ball to the big part of the ballpark with a wood bat. He had natural lift and leverage to his stroke, and the strength to impact the ball with authority. He made confident game swings against quality fastballs and off speed stuff, offering evidence of a high-level hit tool in addition to the previously noted power potential. Behind the plate, again showed easy actions and good body control, along with a solid arm to post release times between 1.97 and 2.11. He sat well to receive live pitching, and showed good hands and ability to track pitches. Overall, he is an offensive minded player at a premium defensive position - and one with natural ability both ways, making him an interesting follow in the 2018 class.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
