Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • C/RHPPosition Projection

08/21/2016 - College PREP - Burlington, VT Liam has become a very exciting prospect for the next level. He has worked hard on the mound and now has a legitimate out pitch in his changeup. On the bump, he uses his live arm to attack hitters with a fastball, changeup mix from a high 3/4 arm slot with good command of both pitches. He has an easy, repeatable delivery that allows him to stay in control on the mound and work with good tempo. Behind the dish, he uses his athleticism to move well and get down to block quickly. He has soft hands to receive and works around the ball to stick pitches for strikes. At the plate, this RHH has good feel for the barrel, consistently hitting the ball hard. He has good balance in the box and loads to a power position to show pop to the pull side with the potential for more as he grows. Leveling out his swing will lead to more hard hit line drives and base hits in the future. Liam is a very exciting prospect who will open eyes as he works towards the next level.

12/27/2015 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Liam is a hard working player who is very coachable and has a great attitude. He asks question and has a willingness to improve. He is a gamer who is focused and 'locked in' - playing the game the right way. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line to his target and displays accurate throws. He has a clean exchange with pop times showing in the 2.30 range. He isn't afraid to throw behind runners. He is vocal and communicates well with his defense. At the plate, he has rhythm to load. Hands work through a level swing path to and through the zone. He barrels the ball up consistently and likes the pitch on the inner 1/2, pulling it with some pop. Power will continue to climb as he works to swing on a shorter/more direct path with increased bat speed. On the mound, fastball showed in the upper 70 range and maintains arm speed on his changeup, displaying sinking action. He works the ball to both sides of the plate and throws strikes. More lower 1/2 drive off of the rubber will help to get more into his FB. A 2018 graduate, Liam has skills with upside on the diamond.

08/09/2015 - College PREP - Burlington, VT Liam is an athletic R/R catcher who can swing it. Offensively, he displays a square setup with rhythm in his hands. He works back into a loaded position and waits for his pitch. Barrel delivery is level as he connects with strength hitting line-drives. Behind the dish, Liam sits in well with athletic actions as he tracks pitches into his mitt. He is quick laterally and centers pitches off of his chest, deadening and keeping it in front. Exchange is smooth as he gains ground toward 2B with pop times as low as 2.34. Times will continues to drop as he develops his footwork to throw. Liam has a solid tool set with a bright future ahead of him.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
