09/03/2021 - Baseball Factory's All-Region Tournament (HS) Lincoln is a class of 2024 C/3B prospect. Behind the plate, he shows quick exchanges and accurate throws down to 2B. Shows a low target to help his pitchers. At the plate, he shows quick hands and the ability to hit to all parts of the field. Showed a flat bat through the hitting zone. Lincoln is a talented player that we expect to see continue to get better.

02/12/2021 - Baseball Factory Opening Day Classic (HS - East) Lincoln continues to show as a top prospect on the diamond. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. Quick lateral movements allow him to center/deaden pitches in the dirt off of a soft chest. Pop times showed in the 2.30 range with accuracy / carry (83 mph exit velocity) on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Offensively, hitting abilities are now well above average with solid power potential through a squared setup. He has athletic/smooth actions with fluid rhythm to load. He gets good hand separation and delivers the barrel with leverage with gap to gap pop.

01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament When we think of what skills we want catchers to display, Lincoln Cardwell, 2024, Kokomo, IN (Northwestern) checks all the boxes. Receives and blocks at an advanced level, has great anticipation to keep the ball in front of him at all times. Glove works under and through the ball and minimizes any body movement to showcase the ball and earn strikes for his pitchers. Softens the ball when blocking, controls rebounds and has excellent footwork to throw and a nice release (2.2 POP). At the plate, he keeps it simple, minimizes excess movement, loads and send his hands to the ball with a good connected swing path. Flashes some power to the gaps as well but his offensive consistency makes him a desirable catching prospect.

03/01/2020 - Interactive Video Program - Indianapolis, IN Lincoln continues to shine on the diamond. This young, 2-way player can make things happen in a variety of ways. Behind the dish, he sits in athletically and tracks pitches into a soft mitt. He moves quickly right and left to center pitches in the dirt off of his chest. Throws down to 2B are on the bag with pop times now at 2.30. In the OF, he has quick footwork, is aggressive and takes good angles to his right and left. He secures the ball with 2-hands, has a quick transfer and makes accurate throws with zip into his target. With the bat, this righty has a balanced approach and is looking to take a hack. Swing is level as he connects and hits hard line-drives. Only a 2024 grad - the future is very bright for this 2-way prospect.

01/17/2020 - 2020 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Lincoln is an athletic and talented 2-way prospect. Behind the dish, Lincoln starts in a balanced primary stance and is on time to the ball consistently when receiving. He has an efficient exchange and makes accurate throws on the bag. At the plate, Lincoln starts in a closed stance, he has a simple load, and has a controlled landing with his front foot. He rotates his core to the ball, and makes consistent hard contact gap to gap. On the bump, Lincoln gathers over the rubber, he keeps his stride in line toward the plate, and has a controlled front side. He has an 11-5 break on his curveball and throws his fastball down in the zone. Lincoln will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

07/21/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Lincoln is an athletic and talented 2024 2-way prospect that was eager to learn. Behind the dish, Lincoln starts in a quiet primary, he presents a low target, and works behind the ball. When throwing, he gains ground, with a quick release, and has good carry on the ball. When blocking, he leads with his glove, controls balls with his chest, and anticipates the ball in the dirt. He needs to continue to be in athletic secondary and keep his chest over his knees. At the plate, Lincoln loads his hands back, he has a middle approach, and consistently puts the ball in play. He has good rhythm keeps the barrel flat to the ball, and stays balanced through contact. He needs to continue to create backside drive, stay back on the ball, and get extension through contact. Lincoln will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

03/03/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Indianapolis, IN Lincoln worked out behind the plate and in the OF during his most recent workout with The Factory. Arm strength increased to 72 MPH at the workout. Behind the plate, Lincoln has active feet, he centers the ball well, and tracks to his glove. He is aggressive blocking, gains ground, and throws with momentum from a long arm action to 2nd base. In the OF, Lincoln has efficient footwork, a good first step to the ball, and he fields squarely. He tracks well, makes plays, and throws with momentum to his cut off man. Offensively, Lincoln has a square set-up, good balance, and he swings a level stick. He hits with some strength to the pull side and uses his lower body.

11/15/2018 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City (Ages 12-14) Lincoln is an athletic and strong 2024 catching prospect that has a high baseball IQ. Behind the dish, Lincoln starts in a balanced primary and has a staggered secondary stance. He works under the ball and sees the ball into his glove when receiving. He needs to continue to present a low target and minimize his post pitch manipulation. He needs to continue to lead with his glove and get his lower half into a strong position to control balls with his chest when blocking. Exchanging the ball in front of his body and creating momentum with his lower half when throwing will quicken up his release. At the plate, Lincoln starts in a closed stance, keeps a quiet head, and has a simple approach. He has quick hands and creates backside rotation with his lower half. He needs to continue to attack the inside part of the ball and keep his head down at contact. Backing the ball up and keeping a middle approach will allow him to see the ball deeper into contact. Continuing to be aggressive on fastball will put him in better situations to hit. Lincoln needs to continue to have a positive attitude and continue to make adjustments. He will to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
