Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • C/RHPPosition Projection

01/21/2019 - College PREP - Omaha, NE Logan continues to shine on the diamond. Behind the plate, pop times showed in the 2.19 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He shows a squared setup and sticks ball in zone. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process but needs to work to get down sooner to improve grade. At the plate he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 75 mph. Fastball showed a range of 74-75 mph. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound.

08/01/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Logan continues to show steady progress on the diamond. Pop times showed in the 2.21 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to get rid of the ball quicker. He shows a solid setup and presents a low target. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process but needs to work to get down sooner. At the plate, he shows an open setup. He has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 70-71 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to develop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and is a solid team player.

01/15/2018 - College PREP - Omaha, NE Logan is an athletic 2020 C/RHP prospect. Behind the dish, Logan has an athletic primary and secondary stance. He has a clean exchange and makes accurate throws. He leads with the glove to block and controls the ball with his chest. Continue to present a low target and working behind the ball will allow Logan to control the ball while receiving. At the plate, Logan starts in a closed stance and loads his hands back into the drive position. He keeps the barrel on plane with the ball and stays balanced through contact. On the bump, Logan Gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and has a clean arm action. Logan will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
