02/05/2012 - College PREP - Mobile, AL Brown showed as a two-way player 3B/C at the event. Currently, he projects best at 3B for the next level. Feet are active as he comes gets the baseball, displaying clean hands. He needs to improve foot speed, play through more, and present hands more out front to continue to improve defensive grades. Behind the plate, pop times show in the 2.32-2.60 range as he needs to build more arm strength to lower pop times. At the plate, Logan shows a crouched, balanced approach. Hands work through a level swing path and he sprays balls to all fields. Power numbers will continue to increase as he learns to load more and stay through the ball at contact.

01/13/2012 - Baseball Factory National Spring Training at Pirate City Logan is a strong, athletic 3B who plays the game hard. At Pirate City, he prepped well in the infield with active footwork. He followed his throws and demonstrated good accuracy. He needs to continue to long toss to improve life and carry on throws. He tends to be max effort, and can be overly aggressive at times. He will need to find that balance to be a consistent defender. With the bat, Colton tracks the ball well, uses his lower half effectively, and shows quick hands through the zone. He needs to add some load to his approach as well as loosen his grip. And has the tendency to spin off of pitches at or before contact. Logan had two hits in his four plate appearances at the event.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
