Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • LHP/1BPosition Projection

Omaha National World Series - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Logan is a talented LHP/1B prospect who has a versatile skill set. On the mound, Logan mixes pitches well and works both sides of the plate. He has a balanced, on-time delivery throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. Logan works downhill and effectively uses his front side. He lands closed to home plate with a controlled landing at the proper stride length. Logan commands his fastball with tail movement. His changeup is deceptive with similar movement and his curveball shows medium break. Offensively, Logan has a square setup with a centered balance and firm front side. He has fluid rhythm with a smooth load and short, square stride as he uses his lower half throughout his swing. Logan shows fast bat speed with a short, direct swing path. He maintains a level barrel and produces consistent contact. Logan is a line drive type hitter who can use the whole field. In the field, Logan plays with active, fluid footwork and makes all the routine plays. He presents his glove and fields the ball in a high position. He shows good awareness around the bag. Logan throws from a high 3/4 arm slot and is developing arm strength. Overall, Logan is a well-rounded prospect who has skill on both sides of the ball.

05/20/2018 - College PREP - San Antonio, TX Logan is a tall, solid LHP who will graduate in 2020. Delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. He shows good tempo through a strong balance point. Fastball showed a range of 76-78 mph. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard to fastball velocities. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches, locating to both sides of the plate. Stock on the mound will continue to increase as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a tall, open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields and shows a feel for the barrel, flashing gap-to-gap pop. With 2 years to further develop, Logan has potential on the bump with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
