07/09/2018 - California Select Training & Competition - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Logan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At SS, defensive abilities have improved as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up, displaying sure hands as he makes the plays. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds of the double play. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a tall setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields and flashing gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 72 mph. Fastball shows a range of 70-72 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Control is outstanding as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

03/18/2018 - College PREP - Monterey Park (Los Angeles), CA Logan is a lean SS/RHP who will graduate in 2021. At the plate is where he shows best through a squared / tall setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At SS, he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active and he displays proper footwork as he plays through balls with his body. Glove action is soft but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 63-66 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with gradual break. He shows tailing action on his changeup but slows arm speed, tipping off pitch to hitters. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 3 years to further develop, Logan has abilities with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
